Common mask replacement timing
A practical CPAP mask schedule separates the soft seal from the harder frame. The cushion or nasal pillows touch your face every night, absorb skin oils, and are the most likely parts to cause leaks when worn.
- Nasal mask cushion: commonly planned around every month.
- Nasal pillows: commonly planned around every month.
- Full-face mask cushion: commonly planned around every month.
- Mask frame or full mask system: commonly planned around every 3 months.
- Headgear: commonly planned around every 6 months.
Signs your CPAP mask may need replacement
Dates are only a planning baseline. Replace parts sooner if therapy quality drops or the equipment no longer seals well.
- New or worsening air leaks even after refitting the mask.
- Cushion feels tacky, stretched, cloudy, stiff, or cracked.
- Headgear no longer holds tension without overtightening.
- You wake with more dry mouth, noise, or mask movement than usual.
How to use the calculator
Add each mask component separately. For example, add nasal pillows monthly, then add headgear on a 6-month cadence. This makes the printable checklist more useful than one generic mask date.
